About

Independent Expertise for Capital-Intensive Industrial Projects.

I am an independent metallurgy & industrial consultant — not a vendor, not part of an EPCM team, not affiliated with any operator. My clients hire me directly when they need a senior, second-opinion technical authority on a defined scope: feasibility review, flowsheet audit, due diligence, or proprietary process design.

Based in Israel and working independently since 2014, I combined contract-based international engagements with leading the hydrometallurgy laboratory at the Gipronickel Institute (St. Petersburg) until January 2025, when I concluded that role to consult full-time. I hold no current employment, equity, or contractual obligations with any mining operator, and I operate under strict confidentiality discipline: client-specific information from past engagements is never disclosed.

Forty years of bench-to-plant practice — including tenure as Head of a premier Hydrometallurgy Laboratory — sit behind every engagement. Operating globally from Israel, I deliver independent technical review at the depth required for NI 43-101 / JORC reporting, alongside my own portfolio of 11 issued Russian Federation patents and a registered APC software algorithm (2025) — proprietary solutions that travel with me, not with any single employer.

Core Capabilities

Three Pillars of Independent Technical Authority.

Technical Due Diligence

Auditing metallurgical test-work, pilot plant data, and feasibility studies to mitigate investor risks.

Flowsheet Optimization

Troubleshooting acute operational bottlenecks in High-Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL), Pressure Oxidation (POX), and matte conversion.

Digital Metallurgy (APC)

Translating physical chemistry into Advanced Process Control algorithms and automated industrial parameters.

Expertise & Advisory · Client Engagements

Selected Client Projects & Independent Engagements.

Contract-based expert assessment, feasibility review and flowsheet auditing delivered for external clients — mining operators, financiers, and EPCM firms — under independent terms of reference.

  1. 2014–2015 · Fenix Nickel Project · Guatemala · client confidential
Independent audit of the Hatch nickel-laterite scoping study (~$500M CAPEX)

Engaged under consulting contract as Independent Technical Reviewer. Audited the Hatch scoping study (completed 2015) and reviewed SGS metallurgical test-work campaigns (2008 and 2013); stress-tested acid-consumption, recovery and scaling assumptions; surfaced 6 critical operational and commercial risks — Magnesia Recovery, Residue Stability, Ocean Outfall Pipeline, Scaling of the Ocean Outfall Pipeline, Power Plant Availability, Cost of Sulphur. Findings informed the owner's decision not to advance the HPAL route to feasibility.

  2. Client: BHP Billiton (Australia)
Precipitation Advisory — Laterite Leach Solutions

Engaged as external expert to engineer and evaluate alternative selective precipitation routes for nickel-cobalt laterite leach solutions, with the goal of optimizing downstream refinery efficiency.

  3. 2008–2015 · Nornickel Harjavalta (Finland) & Norilsk Nickel Polar Division
Autoclave refining of copper-nickel matte in sulfate media

Developed and evaluated process options for autoclave (pressure) refining of copper-nickel matte in sulfate media across multiple engagements for the Harjavalta refinery and the Polar Division — technical reports and process recommendations supporting refinery flowsheet decisions.

  4. Institutional Client Engagement · Kola MMC
    Kola High-Grade Nickel Operations

Long-running institutional R&D advisory for Kola MMC: complex variant processing simulations for high-grade nickel facilities with nominal outputs ranging from 125,000 to 170,000 metric tons per annum.

Pressure-Leaching Flowsheet for Pyrrhotite-Pentlandite Concentrates

Authored advanced pressure-leaching configuration that converts low-grade sulfide pyrrhotite — previously a tailings stream — into a profitable feedstock. Unlocks 10–25% base-metal and 15–30% PGM recovery gains depending on feed.
